Color Run UK - Fundraising

Colour Run UK. 11 June 2017 Thank you for your recent donation to SIKAT- Helping Children Develop through JustGiving. Your kind generosity means so much as we work to build a new assembly hall for the children of Francisco Kiko Manlises Calingag High School, to replace the temporary Nipa huts they have had to use since the typhoon in 2015. The children of the Calingag Community really want to do the best that they can. Many have dreams of going to college in order to study to become engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs or join the police. In the Philippines the quality of education you receive really does depend on the wealth of your parents, so for the poorest, with little hope for a good education, they would instead be looking ahead to a life of unemployment or manual labour. With the generous support of you and others, the children and young adults of Calingag now have hope for an education that will do justice to their ambitions. But the children can tell you better than me, how important your support is, so, I’d like to share with you a few words from the children themselves. “Hi Ma’am/Sir… I am John Carlo Sapungan, son of Mr. Nicolas and Mrs. Helen Sapungan. I am an alumni of our beloved school, Francisco “Kiko” Manlises Calingag High School in Calingag, Pinamalayan. I just want to say thank you for all you’ve done for us especially for providing us a school where we can study and have knowledge in order for us to enrol in college and conquer our dreams. Without you all, maybe I am not in college today. I am now already 17 years old, First Year College studying at Polytechnic University of Philippines-Sta. Mesa, Manila taking Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I hope our school will continuously grow with excellence. This may be the beginning of our community’s innovation. More Power! And God Bless us all”. *** *** ** ** “I need to learn and I am aiming for high grade. One day, I wish this school which started with one makeshift room can become a school with all facilities the student need to learn. I am looking forward to the success of the school which I really love and will not forget for the rest of my life” Kathleen Sapungan. “ We need to develop the school to gain access to the internet and computer literacy. I have a longing to become an educator. Narissa Joy Matanguihan I am so thankful to SIKAT for the opportunity you are giving us. I dream of finishing my studies and supporting the needs of my family.
